SIDE IMPACT AIR BAG & DIODE / RESISTOR CONNECTORS:

Mol-Son was called upon to develop and design a multi-functional sealed connector system.  The system was required to incorporate a shorting bar system for an in-line Side Impact Air Bag (SIAB) application as well as alternate usage incorporating electronic components diode / resistors for various applications.

Mol-Son personnel designed and built all of the plastic components and sourced the boot seals, grommet seals, metal stamping, diodes, and resistors.  In addition, Mol-Son developed the entire manufacturing and assembly process for these products.

Utilizing our extensive experience and expertise in materials and their environmental rating, product design, tool design, tool manufacturing, injection molding, and assembly, Mol-Son developed both PBT plastic housings, terminal position assurance (TPA) components, boot and grommet seals with our seal manufacturing alliance partners, and a rear ultrasonically welded cover.  Mol-Son also designed the shorting bar, including material base metal plating and profile, to meet electrical contact and force requirements.
