AUTOMOTIVE POWER DISTRIBUTION BOX:
Very sophisticated and complex electrical / electronic components are one of Mol-Son's specialties. A recently completed power distribution box (PDB) system consisting of a main housing with over 175 terminal retention lock fingers, three separate terminal position assurance (TPA) components which double as relay / fuse component protectors, and a top and bottom cover were tooled in multi-cavity molds. One of the main housing cavities alone required over 700 inserts per cavity to accommodate product geometry, molding, and material requirements.
Mol-Son's team of product design engineers, tool design engineers, and highly skilled mold makers worked to optimize the product design, tool design, and tool build by utilizing their extensive knowledge and experience complimented with Mol-Son's extensive library of design, advanced CAD/CAM software, and state of the art equipment. This yielded significantly improved tool trial timing, overall molding, and assembly efficiency.
A project engineer ensured all aspects of the program were on time and provided our customer with a single point of contact and continuous communication.
